A common misconception I hear and one that I fell into for a long time was a simple fallacy.
I believed that in order to learn and become a Master in anything and therefore be successful, I had to find and learn the secrets behind a certain field of business or realm of life.
I believed that if I knew the secret, then everything would click within me.
This came from the belief that all the successful people I looked up to, had a secret to their success, that I had to find out.
This was wrong. There are no secrets.
You have all the Secrets
"Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals."
~ Jim Rohn
What you call "secrets" are actually in plain sight. It's like when you were a kid, when you lost your toy but your parents point out that it was in front of you the entire time.
Your eyes hadn't picked up on it yet.
The same can be said in life too. Mastery which we will equate to success does not come from learning the hidden secrets that only a minute few know.
It's the opposite. It's about putting in the work and gaining a firm understanding of the basics. The basics that most people overlook.
Learn the basics
In every field there are the basics that once you have learnt you can go into any field and excel at.
In maths if you know arithmetic, and geometry well you'll perform well in trigonometry.
In Computer Science if you know classes, objects well you'll perform good.
In Writing if you know how to retain attention you'll succeed.
The secrets is this:
Master the basics and you'll succeed.
The basics create the foundations of any field. Without them the whole structure will fall, therefore before you try to learn the advanced topics, learn the basics first and everything else will make a whole lot more sense.
The benefits of Mastering the Basics:
By mastering the basics of any field you'll already learn 80% of the entire field. The basics are the corner piece, so they make up a ton of any field.
Once you know them, everything else will feel like a piece of cake.
Most of the lessons are also shown in the basics, by mastering them first you'll learn a whole lot more.
